What is this?

We are the Typewriter Poets Collective - a group of poets armed with antique typewriters and the ability to create extemporaneous poetry.

We now have two branches - one in the Austin area and one in the SF bay area. We’ve brought spontaneous poetry to events in Austin, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, New Orleans, Oakland, San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Berkeley, Mill Valley, Sacramento, San Jose, and more.

This is an unforgettable form of performance art perfect for:

Who We Are

Noaa Rienecker is a booker, operator and bard-in-chief of the Typewriter Poets Collective. An accomplished musician, teacher, and poet, he hails from Inverness, California and has lived in San Jose, Monterey, and Oakland as well as New Orleans and Austin.

In 2022, he started the Austin Typewriter Poets Collective with Adam Jones and Alexander Munoz Jones, bringing typewriter poetry to events around Texas. Now he has expanded the operation back to his home turf and is booking talent in the Bay Area and all along the west coast.

Alexander Munoz Jones is a booker, operator, and the CFO of Typewriter Poets Collective. Based in Austin, Texas, he is also a poet, musician, podcaster, and amateur musicologist.

The Typewriter Poets Collective employs creatives all over Texas, California, and beyond - you can be sure you’ll be hiring local talent that is witty, sensitive and professional.

How does it work?

We set our typewriters up. We dress sharp. Curious guests approach and we ask them for a topic. After a short conversation, we improvise a poem based on that topic, read it aloud, and remit the work to its new steward. The poems might be funny, earnest, absurd - there’s no telling until the ink is on the paper.

We’ve written thousands of poems for thousands of strangers. Try to give us a topic we’ve never gotten before! I dare you.

We have a roster of local poets available. Most events book two to three poets, but we’ve gone as low as one and as high as five.

We do travel for gigs! Please fill out our quote form for more information.
