We are the Austin Typewriter Poets Collective - a group of Austin-based poets armed with antique typewriters and the ability to create extemporaneous poetry.

How does it work?
We set our typewriters up. We dress sharp. Curious guests approach and we ask them for a topic. After a short conversation, we improvise a poem based on that topic (within minutes) and read it to them. We then give them the poem to take home.
We’ve written thousands of poems for thousands of strangers. People are invariably charmed by the experience and are thrilled to take a bespoke, typewritten piece home. Try to give us a topic we’ve never gotten before! I dare you.
We have a roster of local poets available. Most events book two to three poets, but we’ve gone as low as one and as high as five.
